Mental illnesses tend to have a chronic onset with no clear threshold of onset. Prior to the onset of psychosis, many patients experience a period of non-psychotic abnormalities, such as a decline in social functioning, e.g., social avoidance, poor social adjustment, reduced ability to perform daily tasks, and poor coping with life. Some data illustrate that the period from the first appearance of psychotic symptoms until the first treatment is called the duration of untreated psychosis (DUP), which lasts about 1 to 2 years. If we can recognize the abnormal manifestations at the early stage of the disease and shorten the DUP as much as possible, it is very important to make an early diagnosis of mental disorders and take appropriate measures in a timely manner, and at the same time, it has a significant impact on the patient’s recovery and prognosis of mental illness. The common early symptoms of schizophrenia are as follows: 1, personality change: some patients with gradual onset of the disease, mental activity gradually become sluggish, estranged from their loved ones, usually always filial children become unconcerned about their loved ones. Daily interpersonal interactions become less, usually silent, withdrawn, lazy, do not pay attention to personal hygiene, many people work or study inefficient. Often mistaken for “introverted, not thinking about progress”, it is easy to be ignored. 2, class neurasthenia performance: many patients initially appeared insomnia, often gradually or suddenly become difficult to fall asleep, easy to wake up or sleep is not deep, dreamy. Some of them are manifested as headache, inattention, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms, such as fear of dirt, fear of heights, unwarranted fear, nervousness, etc., these performances are often with absurd bizarre, but patients often do not have the desire to take the initiative to seek treatment. 3, will obviously decline: with the original positive, diligent and progressive state is different, gradually become sloppy work, irresponsible, and even absenteeism, absenteeism; or life has become lazy, do not cultivate, without any enterprising spirit, get by with life. There is no reason for students to cause a significant decline in academic performance should be especially to draw the attention of parents. 4, other manifestations: sporadic incomprehensible behavior, sometimes sudden impulsiveness, become suspicious, the existence of fragments of incomprehensible ideas or occasional hallucinations (out of thin air to hear someone talking), to a body part of the irrational attention to the pro-teenager, such as special attention to their own appearance, height, skin color, eye size, etc., and parents do not accept the explanation. The concept of “early” is defined in relation to the “general condition”. “Early” means before the full onset of psychosis or when the DUP is very short. However, early manifestations are currently not characteristic and can be found in other psychiatric disorders or illnesses, such as reduced ability to work and study, reduced volition, anxiety, and stress. It has been suggested that certain symptoms such as withdrawnness, withdrawal, emotional indifference, and off-topic speech have relative specificity in the early diagnosis of schizophrenia.
