Is it important to have a big heart?

A large heart usually refers to hypertrophy of the myocardium, atria and/or ventricles, which is significant and requires prompt intervention for treatment. The degree of significance is positively related to the severity of cardiac hypertrophy.
1. In normal adults, the size of the heart is within a fixed range. Dilated cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, long-term high blood pressure, heart valve disease (such as mitral stenosis or insufficiency of closure, aortic stenosis or insufficiency of closure, etc.), pulmonary hypertension and other diseases can cause myocardial hypertrophy, atrial and/or ventricular dilatation and hypertrophy.
2. When cardiac hypertrophy occurs, its lesions progress gradually, with no obvious symptoms at the initial stage, and severe cardiac insufficiency at the later stage, which affects the quality of life of the patients and even endangers their lives. Therefore, cardiac hypertrophy is an important lesion, patients should attach great importance to early intervention and treatment to prevent cardiac hypertrophy from continuing to progress and increase the risk.
3. When cardiac hypertrophy occurs, the patient should actively treat the primary disease and control the progression of the lesion through medication or surgery, e.g., hypertensive patients should strictly control their blood pressure, and valvular lesions of the heart can be treated with valve repair surgery.
The heart is big, in addition to the above treatment, daily attention should be paid to reasonable rest, avoid overwork, prevent aggravate the burden on the heart.
