It is very common for newborns to present with mild clubfoot. At this age, many factors may predispose the patient to this condition. The common ones are as follows: 1. Imbalance of muscle strength around the ankle joint. For example, the muscles and tendons on the inside of the ankle joint are stronger, such as the Achilles tendon and the posterior tibialis tendon. The muscles and tendons on the outside are weaker, which can cause an imbalance in ankle joint strength, which in turn produces this condition.2. It may be due to the presence of a slight bony deformity in the foot or ankle. Abnormalities of the bony braces can also manifest as inversion of the foot.3. It may be caused by the patient’s nervous system, which is not yet well developed. The patient may have an imbalance of muscle strength in the foot due to an underdeveloped nervous system. For newborns with mild clubfoot, the first step is to go to the pediatric surgery department to clarify whether correction is needed. Because of this condition, there will be significant relief as the patient becomes upright and weight-bearing. In cases requiring correction, it is corrected in the early stages by manipulative massage and wearing orthopedic braces. Surgical correction is required for very severe bony deformities.
