Can a novel coronavirus infection heal itself?

First of all, it can be confirmed that novel coronavirus infection can be self-healing. Self-healing refers to the reliance on the body’s own immune function to kill and clear the virus. There is a lack of specific antiviral drugs for the novel coronavirus, and patients who recover mainly rely on their own immunity and appropriate supportive and symptomatic therapy. However, because of the strong virulence of this virus and the different nutritional status and immune function of each individual, the severity of symptoms after infection varies. Most patients with mild cases can recover with proper isolation and rest and symptomatic treatment, while a few patients with severe cases may develop acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, uncorrectable metabolic acidosis and coagulation dysfunction during the course of the disease, all of which are life-threatening complications and are the main cause of death.
