Root canals can be done in pregnancy. Root canal therapy is a treatment performed when the nerve of the tooth is inflamed or necrotic, and it is contraindicated in patients with severe systemic diseases, other focal infections in the tooth, incompetent root canals, calcified root canals, detached root canal instruments, and intact plastinated root canals. Pregnancy is not a contraindication to root canal treatment and root canal treatment is usually possible. Root canal treatment requires X-rays and local anesthesia medication. Root canal treatment is not recommended in the first trimester of early pregnancy and the second trimester of late pregnancy to prevent miscarriage and preterm delivery, but can be done in the middle of a stable pregnancy. Serious dental diseases during pregnancy can cause infections in the teeth or jaws, and in severe cases, can affect the development of the fetus, so it is recommended to have a detailed examination of the oral cavity before pregnancy. If root canal treatment is needed for pregnancy, you should consult your doctor and have the treatment under his/her guidance.
