Care of pediatric hernia with minimally invasive surgery

After minimally invasive surgery for pediatric hernia, the key points of care are as follows: i. Give continuous oxygen, cardiac monitoring, and oxygen saturation monitoring within 24 hours after surgery. Closely observe the changes in the patient’s blood pressure, heart rate, pulse rate, and oxygen saturation index. Second, because children often undergo surgery under general anesthesia, they will have sore throat and edema after surgery. Nebulization treatment can be given to promote the discharge of sputum and reduce laryngeal edema. Local pressure of ice bag should be given in the operation area within 24 hours to promote capillary constriction, reduce tissue edema and promote faster wound healing. The child can get out of bed after 24 hours and resume normal diet after the bowel movement. Family members are advised to keep the child away from strenuous exercise for 3 months to avoid recurrence of the hernia.
