If there is bleeding, skin laceration or bleeding under the toenail, swollen and floating toenail, it is an open injury, so go to the hospital immediately for detailed examination and wound treatment, including debridement and suturing, and intramuscular tetanus injection within 24 hours. If there is no bleeding and the toenail is damaged, the injury is closed and can be observed for a short period of time with braking and rest. If the symptoms are not relieved or if there is local deformation or pain is severe, it is recommended to go to the hospital for appropriate examination, and if a fracture is involved, repositioning and fixation as well as supporting symptomatic treatment should be carried out. Both open and closed injuries can be treated with anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment, blood circulation and blood stasis, and braking and fixation are necessary for both types of injuries, as well as regular follow-ups to keep an eye on changes in the condition.
