The slippery pulse is a kind of pulse in Chinese medicine, which is the image of feeling the pulse beating with the fingers. The slippery pulse is felt by the physician with the threaded end of the index, middle, and ring fingers of the left or right hand, placed at the inch-off-ruler of the patient’s wrist, and the pulse is felt to flow, with a rounded and smooth form, as if the orb is rolling smoothly from the ulnar part to the inch part, and can be felt floating, in, or sinking. The slippery pulse reflects the patient’s disease such as phlegm and dampness, food accumulation and real heat; it can also be seen in the normal pulse of young and strong people, and the slippery pulse seen in women without disease can be judged as pregnancy; in addition, the slippery pulse can also be seen before the onset of menstruation.
