Pediatric head trauma is often not easy to be noticed by parents because they are not good at expressing the change in condition, if parents do not observe carefully, the child’s condition may be very serious by the time they realize that something is wrong, so it is easy to delay the diagnosis and treatment of the condition; in addition, the speed of change in the condition of children is faster than that of adults. In addition, the speed of change in the condition of children is faster than that of adults. Which children do not need to go to the hospital after head trauma, and which children should go to the hospital immediately after head trauma? After a pediatric head trauma, regardless of the injury, parents must remain calm and briefly understand when the child was injured, how the child fell, where the child’s head landed, and whether there are any injuries to other locations on the body. While keeping the child from continuing activities and maintaining rest, the child’s physical condition should be closely observed. If the child is crying for a short time after the head trauma, everything is fine (relaxed expression, clear language, no vomiting, etc.), even if there is a small local scalp hematoma, in most cases there is no need to go to the hospital, but if the child loses consciousness and is unable to walk normally after the head trauma, the child needs to be sent urgently to the emergency department of a hospital with cranial CT examination in such cases. If the child is awake and unable to walk normally or walks normally after the injury, but has the following types of conditions (frequent vomiting, twitching of limbs or corners of the mouth, worsening headache, crying, restlessness, weakness of limbs, etc.), the child should be sent immediately to the emergency department of a hospital with cranio-cerebral CT examination. Parents should not take it lightly, but still need to observe the child carefully for two days to prevent delayed intracranial hemorrhage or various other complications. If the child becomes unconscious (unable to wake up or open the eyes after demented, unable to complete the parent’s instructions), the child should be sent to the hospital again urgently for medical treatment.
