How to treat salivary gland cysts

Salivary gland cysts can be removed by injecting 0.2-0.5 ml of 2% tincture of iodine into the cystic cavity after pumping out the cystic fluid, staying for 2-3 minutes before pumping out the tincture of iodine, the purpose of which is to destroy the epithelial cells so that they lose their secretory function and no longer form cysts. Small salivary gland mucous gland cysts are usually removed under local infiltration anesthesia, longitudinal incision of the mucosa, blunt and sharp separation of the cyst wall under the mucosa, outside the cyst wall, removal of the cyst, surrounding glandular tissue should be minimally damaged, and the gland connected with the cyst should be removed along with the cyst to prevent recurrence. Repeatedly damaged mucous gland cysts can form scar and adhere to the cyst wall, which is not easy to separate. In such cases, a shuttle incision can be made on both sides of the cyst to remove the scar, the cyst and its adjacent tissues together, and the incision can be directly sutured, and if there are many recurrences after resection, the surgical wound can be treated with carbon dioxide laser after removal of the cyst. The treatment of sublingual gland cyst is to remove the sublingual gland and the cyst.
