Why does the eyeball hurt when you press it?

Painful eyeball on pressure indicates that there is pain on pressure in the eye, which may be caused by iridocyclitis, scleritis, and other causes. In addition, eye trauma, visual fatigue and other patients can also appear eyeball pressing pain. Under normal circumstances gentle pressure on the eye does not have obvious pain, while the eyeball will have a painful feeling when pressed, usually because of the presence of inflammatory stimulation of the eyeball caused by the presence of inflammation, such as iridocyclitis, scleritis and so on. Both iridocyclitis and scleritis are usually caused by an autoimmune response. Patients with iridocyclitis experience redness in the eyes, decreased vision, and significant eye pressure, while patients with scleritis experience limited white eye area congestion and pressure pain. In addition, if the patient over-exerts the eyes or has eye trauma, the patient may also have symptoms such as eye pressure pain and other discomforts. Patients with significant eye pain are advised to seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
