What causes pain in the soles of the feet when you get up in the morning and walk?

Pain in the sole of the foot when getting up in the morning and walking is most often plantar fasciitis, due to chronic aseptic inflammation of the plantar fascia where it connects to the heel bone tuberosity, or sometimes after an acute injury. Usually the symptoms are severe pain in the heel, like a stabbing sensation, in the morning when you get up and walk on the ground. After walking for a certain period of time, such as 5 or 10 minutes, the symptoms will be relieved. There is also the possibility of heel spurs, which are most common in middle-aged and older people, especially women, and usually require localized X-rays to confirm the diagnosis. Heel spurs irritate the surrounding soft tissues and the fat pads of the soles of the feet, which can lead to localized aseptic inflammation and cause pain.
