Preparation before going to the hospital

Recently, many patients and their families have been asking me: What should I do to prepare for the visit? I will give a detailed answer to this question below. 1, psychological preparation For patients and their families, it is a very difficult choice to walk into a hospital because of psychosomatic illness or drug use. Hospitals are open public places where people come and go, and privacy seems impossible to hide, so anxiety, nervousness, and even fear can come naturally. Some patients may even worry about embarrassing themselves by running into someone they know here. In fact, the mental health center is like any other hospital and has no special features. Compared to some large general hospitals, the clinic environment may be quieter, the specialist’s office is a single room, and only one patient will be seen at a time. For many families of drug addicts, each day is a tormenting and painful one, and this pain is neither confided in outsiders nor understood by family and friends. When they visit the clinic, they find an outlet for their anguish, and often they are unable to control their emotions before their condition has been described, and some family members even keep scolding and insulting the patients in the clinic. I both deeply understand and disagree with this. On the one hand, the family’s overly subjective emotional reaction and description will affect my objective observation and understanding of the patient and judgment of the condition; on the other hand, the patient is infected by emotions will naturally think that the doctor and the family are allies, so they stand against the doctor, and then resist the examination and treatment, bringing unnecessary trouble to the diagnosis and treatment; for the patient and the family, the consultation requires a calm and natural state of mind, objective and truthful without concealment. For patients and family members, a calm and natural attitude is needed during the consultation, and an objective, truthful and comprehensive description of the condition without concealment will help my judgment and treatment. Finally, the hospital is not a public security institution and will not register the patient’s information, let alone forcibly detain the patient in a rehab facility, so this concern can be completely dispelled! 2. Physical preparation In order to understand in detail the extent of damage caused by drugs and the physical condition of the patient, some necessary tests will be arranged during the initial visit. Patients should not eat on the morning of the visit in order to check liver and kidney functions, and should not drink alcohol, overeat, engage in vigorous physical exercise, or stay up late on the first day of the visit. 3.Data preparation ID card or medical card or medical insurance card is the credentials needed for registration, be sure to bring at least one of them, the medical card can be applied at the clinic with ID card or medical insurance card. You should bring all the information about your previous visits, such as outpatient medical records, inpatient medical records, previous examination results, previous medications, etc. If it is convenient, you should bring the previous medications with you. If your condition is complicated or you are worried that you may not be able to remember it all, you can record the patient’s condition in advance in a book. 4.Preparation for hospitalization Patients and family members with hospitalization requirements can prepare daily necessities and change of clothes in advance. 5.Quality appointment To better protect patients’ privacy and facilitate patients with special requirements, we have opened a quality appointment service. This service takes about 40-50 minutes for a single visit (compared to 10 minutes for a single visit in the specialist clinic due to the large number of patients).
