What are the characteristics of the murmur of mitral valve insufficiency?

The mitral murmur is usually auscultated in the apical region, just below the nipple. The characteristic feature of auscultation is that it occurs during systole, and a blowing murmur can be heard in the mitral valve. The blowing murmur is caused by the regurgitation of blood from the left ventricle to the left atrium. This murmur is relatively limited, it is not conductive, that is, the murmur is only in this location and does not travel to the back or shoulders. If the regurgitation of the valve is caused by a ruptured tendon, the sound of the tendon’s fluttering motion can be heard. However, these are relatively difficult to auscultate, and the most common is the blowing murmur in the mitral valve auscultation area during systole, which is characteristic of its articulation.
