The patient’s type of disease should first be determined and then judged reasonably according to the type of disease. If the patient has severe mitral valve closure insufficiency, he or she should be treated promptly with the option of mitral valve repair and not mitral valve replacement surgery. In mild to moderate cases, the disease can be treated conservatively with medication.
Patients with organic mitral valve insufficiency should choose repair or replacement depending on the cause and extent of the disease.
