Can you live on your own with Parkinson’s disease?

In the early stages of Parkinson’s disease, patients are able to live on their own, but not in the advanced stages. Parkinson’s disease is a chronic disease characterized by motor dysfunction, which causes the body to show symptoms such as tremor, rigidity and slow movement. As the disease progresses slowly, it has less impact on the patient in the early stage, so the patient can take care of himself/herself. However, when Parkinson’s disease develops into an advanced stage, the patient’s motor dysfunction gradually worsens, and the patient may gradually be unable to dress himself, eat on his own, and in severe cases, the whole body will become stiff and bedridden. At this point, Parkinson’s patients lose the ability to take care of themselves. There is no measure to stop the development of Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, Parkinson’s patients should seek timely medical treatment, early detection, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment in order to slow down the development of the disease.
