Is it normal for a calf cramp to hurt for a few days?

It is not possible to generalise whether calf cramp pain for a few days is normal or not. It is usually considered to be caused by spasm of the gastrocnemius muscle. Calf cramps usually occur at night and last for tens of seconds to a few minutes before gradually resolving on their own. However, if the cramp is severe, the calf muscle may remain sore for several days afterwards. If the pain persists or if calf cramps occur frequently, seek medical attention to find out the exact cause of the calf cramps and treat the symptoms.
