Precautions before and after cataract surgery

What is a cataract?

A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens in the eye. When we see, light passes through the cornea, then through the lens to focus on the retina, and then through the optic nerve to the brain to produce vision. If you compare the eye to a camera, the lens is the lens. If the lens becomes cloudy, you cannot take a clear picture. The main symptoms of cataracts include blurred vision, double vision, photophobia, glare, dark shadows in front of the eyes, and increased myopia.

Why does a cloudy lens affect my vision?

The lens is like the lens of a camera. Under normal circumstances, it is transparent, but when it becomes cloudy, it blocks light from entering the eye and affects vision. The degree to which vision is affected depends on the location and density of the clouded lens.

What are the common causes of cataracts? There are many causes of cataracts, the most common being senile cataract, a clouding of the lens that begins to occur in middle and old age. Cataracts that existed before birth or formed gradually after birth are called congenital cataracts. Epidemiological studies have shown that ultraviolet radiation, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, trauma to the body, excessive alcohol consumption and smoking are all related to the formation of cataracts. Can cataracts be cured by medication?

There is no oral medicine or eye drops that can effectively treat cataracts. The only effective means of treating cataracts is surgery.
