A cesarean section usually involves incision of seven to eight layers. If a subperitoneal cesarean section is done, it involves incision of the skin, subcutaneous fat, the anterior rectus abdominis sheath, the muscularis propria, the peritoneum, the plasma layer of the uterus, the muscularis propria, and the mucous layer of the uterus, for a total of eight layers. If an extraperitoneal lower uterine segment cesarean section is performed, it is seven layers because no incision of the peritoneum is required. Cesarean section is a remedial method used to end a pregnancy or to rescue a pregnant woman or fetus when she cannot have a normal vaginal delivery due to certain factors, which cuts more tissues and causes more damage. Women are advised to strengthen the management of pregnancy to avoid the occurrence of giant babies and pregnancy complications, to increase the chances of normal delivery, and to minimize cesarean delivery.
