Performance of normal chromosome report form

The normal chromosomal report card may vary depending on the type of chromosome a woman is tested for. If a pregnant woman is at critical risk or high risk for Down’s syndrome screening and needs to have an amniocentesis or non-invasive DNA test, the report of normal chromosomes after the non-invasive DNA test will indicate that the values of the three pairs of chromosomes, 18, 13 and 21, are within the normal range. If an amniocentesis is performed to check the chromosomal status, the report usually concludes that no significant abnormalities are seen and this is the normal chromosome report form. However, if a woman wants to have a full set of chromosome tests, the normal chromosome report is that there are 23 complete pairs of chromosomes, including 22 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes, and the conclusion suggests that there are no significant abnormalities in any of the chromosomes.
