What to do with anxiety

  Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illnesses. It is estimated that more than 60 million people in China suffer from anxiety. Many people do not pay enough attention to it and do not know much about it, so they fail to get timely and effective interventions. The manifestations are but not limited to the following: excessive worry, nervousness and fear, fear, dizziness, chest tightness, palpitations, shortness of breath, dry mouth, frequent urination, urgent urination, sweating, and fidgeting.  Medically, anxiety disorders cover a group of psychiatric disorders including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. The following concepts need to be distinguished before diagnosis. 1. anxiety is a normal emotional response in a state of stress, which is a defensive psychological a physiological response of the human body, and most of them do not require medical treatment. 2. persistent and severe anxiety is pathological anxiety, i.e., anxiety symptoms or a cluster of anxiety symptoms, which requires attention and sometimes medical help. 3. anxiety disorders, which not only have heavy and prolonged symptoms, but also cause patients distress and incapacity, should be diagnosed and treated. In addition, organic diseases need to be ruled out.  The first step in treatment is to get rid of the causative factors, such as untangling knots, communicating more with others, developing hobbies, and diverting attention. If the above methods do not work, medication is needed, mainly benzodiazepines and new antidepressants. In addition, supportive psychotherapy is also needed.  It is recommended to visit the psychiatric department of a regular hospital.
