Pharyngeal follicular hyperplasia is caused by inflammation. If the inflammation is controlled, the symptoms usually resolve and the pharyngeal follicular hyperplasia lives with the person for a long time and does not require special treatment. Radiofrequency ablation may be considered if lymphatic follicular hyperplasia affects breathing or swallowing function, but this is rare.
