What is the mechanism of pharyngeal follicular hyperplasia?

The lymphatic tissue around the mucous glands is chronically congested, causing granular elevation or even fusion of the posterior pharyngeal wall, i.e. pharyngeal follicular hyperplasia.
If the secretions from the mucous glands are obstructed, a cystic white spot may form on the top of the protruding lymphatic tissue, and when it breaks down, a yellowish-white substance may be seen.
