Feeling a foreign body sensation in one eye may be caused by a foreign body in the eye, inverted eyelashes, conjunctivitis, blepharitis and other causes. Different treatment methods exist for different causes, mainly general treatment, medication or surgery.
1. Intraocular foreign body: If it is a foreign body such as dust, small flying insects, etc., it can be rinsed out with eye drops or tears. If rinsing does not provide relief, the eyelid can be flipped open to find the foreign body and stick it out with a cotton swab. If the foreign body has been embedded in the local tissue or can not be discharged, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for examination and treatment.
2. Inverted eyelashes: If there is an inverted eyelash in one eye, resulting in a foreign body sensation in one eye, you can apply sodium vitrate eye drops, polyethylene glycol eye drops and other eye medicines to relieve the discomfort. Surgical treatment, such as blepharoplasty, should be considered if necessary.
3. Conjunctivitis: If the foreign body sensation in one eye is caused by conjunctivitis, it is mainly treated with medication. Bacterial infection can be applied erythromycin ophthalmic ointment, tobramycin eye drops and other antibiotic eye drugs. Viral infections can apply acyclovir eye drops, ganciclovir eye drops and other antiviral eye medications.
4. Blepharitis: If one eye has a foreign body sensation caused by blepharitis, antibiotic eye medicines such as gentamycin ophthalmic ointment and levofloxacin eye drops can be applied to promote the inflammation to subside. If the symptoms are severe, surgical drainage should be considered.
If you feel a foreign body sensation in one eye, you need to consult a doctor as soon as possible, after clarifying the cause, give targeted treatment, do not self-medication.
