Do you have a sore throat from a novel coronavirus infection?

Novel coronavirus infection in humans sometimes presents with a sore throat, but this symptom is not characteristic and cannot be used as a basis for the diagnosis of the virus. The epidemiology of the novel coronavirus is still limited, and the clinical symptoms are known from the cases that have been presented. The main clinical manifestations of most patients are fever, malaise, dry cough, and progressive dyspnea, while a small number of patients have a mild onset of symptoms or even no obvious fever. In addition, some patients have atypical onset symptoms and may present with symptoms that include mild nausea, depression, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, heartburn, chest tightness, conjunctivitis, and muscle pain in the extremities and lower back. These symptoms are also similar to those caused by other viral infections, so they also do not have diagnostic significance. Currently, the diagnosis of novel coronavirus infection mainly relies on the results of pathogenic tests.
