Symptoms and treatment of lung deficiency cough

Lung deficiency cough is mostly a deficiency of lung yin, common manifestations include dry cough, short cough, little sputum, white sticky sputum, sputum can be blood, or with dry mouth and throat, hoarseness; or with afternoon hot flashes (a burst of fever), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, and waking up sweating stops), zygomatic redness (cheeks and zygomatic bones reddish in color), and so on. It can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Chinese medicine: Chinese medicine is often used to treat lung-yin deficiency cough by adding or subtracting Sha Shen Maidong Tang to nourish yin and clear away heat (nourish yin essence and clear away heat), moisten the lungs and stop coughing. Coughs with deficiency of lung yin should not be treated with medicines that promote the lung and disperse evil spirits, as misuse of these medicines will result in more deficiency of lung yin. Treatment should pay attention to regulating positive qi, and even if the cough is a mixture of deficiency and actuality (both deficiency and actuality are present in a person’s body), both symptoms and root causes should be treated. Acupuncture and moxibustion: Lung Yu, Taiyuan, Sanyinjiao, and Anxiao points are often used. If there is blood in the sputum, Kongmax can be added; if the mouth is dry and the throat is dry and the voice is hoarse, Taixi can be added; and if there is night sweating, Yin Qie can be added. The adverse effects of the above drugs are not clear. If patients have cough, they should go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions after the diagnosis and treatment by professional doctors, and should not use medicine or acupuncture on their own.
