Hand posture in emergency hand surgery

The human hands are located at the distal end of the upper extremities, and the main functions of the upper extremities are concentrated in the human hand, which has a complex anatomy, and usually has a resting position and a functional position. The resting position of the hand, that is, the hand is in a natural resting position, at this time, the tension of the muscles and joint capsule and ligaments of the hand is in a relative balance, which is manifested by the wrist joint dorsiflexion 10 degrees -15 degrees, mild ulnar deviation, thumb mildly to flexion and abduction, finger belly close to or touching the radial side of the distal interphalangeal joint of the index finger, index finger to little finger flexion is arranged in a step, the degree of flexion gradually The degree of flexion gradually increases and is naturally stationary. The functional position of the hand is the position where the hand can perform its maximum function, such as opening the hand, making a fist, and pinching objects. This position is particularly helpful after hand trauma, where the metacarpophalangeal and acromioclavicular joints are slightly flexed, the fingers are slightly separated, the metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints are semi-flexed, the distal interphalangeal joints are slightly flexed, and the joint flexion position of the fingers is more consistent. This position is particularly helpful after hand trauma, and fixation in this position is necessary to maintain maximum function of the injured hand for patients whose joint function is difficult to return to normal or even for patients with joint ankylosis.
