The origin and purpose of World Kidney Day

In view of the increasing incidence of chronic kidney disease worldwide and the general lack of public knowledge about the prevention and treatment of this disease, the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Funds (IFKF) jointly proposed to designate the second Thursday of March as World Kidney Day from 2006 onwards, with the following objectives: 1. to raise awareness of the high incidence of chronic kidney disease and related cardiovascular diseases and high To raise awareness of the high morbidity and mortality of chronic kidney disease and related cardiovascular diseases; 2. World Kidney Day Mission and Goals
Mission: To make the general public aware of the importance of the kidney to overall health, thereby reducing the global emergence and impact of kidney disease and its related health problems.
