The maximum life expectancy of middle and late stage lung cancer is mainly related to the malignancy of tumor, metastasis, patient’s physical condition and treatment, etc., which cannot be generalized. If the patient’s physical condition is good, the tumor is less malignant and the metastasis is not life-threatening, some patients can survive for 2-3 years after surgery and systemic chemotherapy, and the five-year survival rate can reach more than 40%. If the patient has more basic diseases, poor physical condition and cannot tolerate the treatment, and the tumor has higher malignancy, multiple metastases and more important metastatic sites, such as lymph node metastasis in the lung and compression of airway and esophagus, which may cause difficulty in breathing, hemoptysis and obstruction of swallowing, the survival period is shorter, maybe six months to a year or less, and may endanger the patient’s life at any time. At present, the treatment level of lung cancer has been continuously improved. Patients with middle and late stage lung cancer should cooperate with doctors with a positive attitude in order to prolong patients’ survival time and improve their quality of life.
