How long can you live after kidney cancer removal

The survival period of kidney cancer after resection is affected by many factors, such as clinical stage, pathological typing, surgical method, postoperative treatment and patient’s own condition, which can be as short as death in a few months or more than 5 years in the long run. Early stage kidney cancer can have a better prognosis after radical kidney cancer surgery; even if middle and late stage kidney cancer is surgically removed, the prognosis is worse than early stage kidney cancer, and the survival period is shorter. The pathological types of kidney cancer include clear cell carcinoma, suspicious cell carcinoma, etc. Different pathological types of kidney cancer have different degrees of malignancy, and those with higher degrees of malignancy have shorter survival period. Some patients also need adjuvant treatment after surgery, and if the response to postoperative treatment is better, the survival period of patients will be extended accordingly. In addition, the survival period of patients is also related to their physical condition. Cancer is characterized by recurrence, and patients should have regular review after kidney cancer resection and timely treatment when there is any change in condition.
