Can epididymitis affect the birth of a child?

Epididymitis mostly occurs unilaterally and may cause varying degrees of obstruction of the epididymal duct on the affected side, but it does not usually affect fertility as the testicles and epididymis on the opposite side are structurally and functionally normal; in a small number of patients, inflammation of both epididymis occurs, which may cause infertility even after receiving timely anti-infective treatment.
