What conditions are suitable for radical prostate cancer surgery

There are many treatments for prostate cancer, from radical surgery, which is more invasive, to injections and medications, which are basically painless, all of which may have a good effect on prostate cancer. Specifically, the patient’s life expectancy, general condition, tumor stage, malignancy and other factors should be evaluated to choose the appropriate treatment method, in a word, “tailor-made”. As with other malignant tumors, when doctors diagnose prostate cancer, they will definitely make a diagnosis of the specific stage of the tumor, which represents the severity of prostate cancer. The staging diagnosis of prostate cancer is the basis of treatment. At present, there are two common clinical standards for prostate cancer staging: one is the WhitmoreJewett staging method provided by the American Urological Association, and the other is the international unified TNM staging method. Among these two staging methods, WhitmoreJewett staging for stage A and B tumors do not penetrate the prostate envelope. These tumors are what we often refer to as early stage prostate cancer. Since such tumors are confined to the interior of the prostate gland. Therefore, they are also clinically known as organ-confined prostate cancer. For early stage prostate cancer, theoretically, it can be cured by radical surgery, and its 10-year survival rate is over 90%. If the patient has a short life expectancy or has difficulty undergoing surgery, radiotherapy is an option. Studies have shown that the 5-year survival rate of radiotherapy for early stage prostate cancer is comparable to that of radical surgery.
