What are the classifications and treatment options for scoliosis?

The classification of scoliosis needs to be answered in two ways: first, etiologically, and second, according to severity. Etiologically, it can be classified as idiopathic scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, neurofibromatosis scoliosis, neuromuscular scoliosis, and syndromic scoliosis, among others. In terms of severity, it can be classified as mild, moderate, severe, or very severe. Depending on the severity of scoliosis, two types of treatment are available: the first major type is conservative treatment and the second major type is surgical treatment. Other methods of electrical stimulation and orthopedic treatment have not yet been proven to be effective. Therefore, the type of treatment for scoliosis needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis.
