Is it okay to cut the polyp of nail infection by yourself?

Recurrent nail infections are often not treated by self trimming because of the presence of inflammatory reactive polyps around the nail groove, which may even aggravate the infection. Recurrent attacks of nail infections with inflammatory reactive polyps around the nail groove usually require surgical treatment, which in the past consisted of nail extraction and complete removal of the surrounding reactive hyperplastic polyps under local anesthesia, even destroying part of the nail bed if necessary. At a later stage, it is necessary to avoid trimming the nail too deeply to avoid a recurrence of the nail infection, while trimming the reactive polyp on its own usually leads to more serious infections and even enlargement of the polyp by stimulating the growth of foreign bodies in the tissue. For ingrown nail polyp, nail reconstruction is recommended.
