Combined with the clinical manifestations, the patient was diagnosed as having persistent constipation caused by poor living habits. The patient was then given TCM acupuncture point embedding + moxibustion + lifestyle modification. After treatment, the bowel movement returned to normal and the discomfort symptoms were relieved. [Basic information] Female, 25 years old [Disease type] Stubborn constipation [Hospital] 988th Hospital of the PLA Joint Security Force [Consultation date] August 2021 [Treatment plan] Chinese acupuncture point embedding (Zhonggui, Hypogastrium, Tianshu, Large Intestine Yu, Foot Sanli, Spleen Yu) + moxibustion (abdomen) + lifestyle adjustment [Treatment period] 6 months of outpatient treatment [Treatment effect] Normal bowel movement and relief of discomfort. Patient’s self-report: 3 years ago, I worked in a hot pot restaurant, I worked more night shifts, often worked overtime until the early morning, my diet and rest were irregular, I often had no time to eat at work, but after work, I ate a lot, my bowel movement became gradually abnormal, I was often constipated and bloated, I had two colonoscopies and no abnormalities were found, my bowel movement was slow, I took many drugs with poor results. This time, he came to the clinic because he had not had a bowel movement for more than a week and felt that his symptoms had worsened and he was really uncomfortable. So far, combining the patient’s basic condition and clinical manifestations, we can basically judge that it is persistent constipation caused by bad living habits. (Diagnostic certificate) II. Treatment After full communication with the patient, we avoided using any laxative drugs in this treatment, and combined with Chinese medicine for systematic conditioning. 1. Lifestyle adjustment: suggest the patient to change jobs or apply for long day shifts, ensure regular intake of three meals, match coarse and fine, meat and vegetables in three meals, and increase the intake of fruits, vegetables and coarse fiber foods appropriately. Ensure good sleeping habits, and you must go to bed before 23:00 at night. About 6:00 in the morning, regardless of whether there is no intention to squat in the toilet, to develop a good defecation pattern. 2.Embedding of TCM acupuncture points: Every 3 weeks, the patient came to the hospital for 1 time of embedding of acupuncture points, choosing the acupuncture points of Zhonggui, Hypogastrium, Tianshu, Large Intestine Yu, Sansili, and Spleen Yu to alternately embed absorbable lamb’s intestine thread to promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function; 3.Moxibustion: The patient was instructed to use moxibustion bags or moxibustion strips at home to moxibustion the whole abdomen, and to massage the abdomen in clockwise direction for at least 20 minutes every night before going to bed. After 3 months of outpatient treatment, the patient reported that the symptoms of insomnia and hair loss were significantly reduced, and he could pass stool twice a week, and his stool was not dry and hard, and the symptoms of stomach distension were significantly relieved. After 6 months of outpatient treatment, the bowel movement was basically maintained once every 1-2 days, and the bowel movement was smooth, and the bloating disappeared, so the treatment effect was good. The patient is very satisfied with the treatment effect. IV. Notes I am glad that after active treatment, the stubborn constipation has been greatly improved. Although the intestinal function of the patient has basically returned to normal after conditioning, everything is valuable in persistence, and the patient should be instructed again to pay attention to the following points: 1, diet: three meals are regular, regular and quantitative, not hungry and full, especially not overeating, avoiding tobacco, alcohol, strong coffee, spicy, cold food and other adverse stimuli. Recommended to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables to promote gastrointestinal peristalsis; 2, emotions: maintain a good state of mind, gastrointestinal function and emotions are closely related, if often angry, depression, anxiety, panic and other bad emotions, can also lead to gastrointestinal dysfunction, which leads to gastritis, enteritis, serious ulcers, tumors and other lesions; 3, exercise: patients can be 30-40 minutes of aerobic exercise every day, exercise process to promote gastrointestinal peristalsis, promote digestion. With the improvement of living standards, modernization and industrialization, most people have moved away from the idyllic life of “working at sunrise and resting at sunset, drinking from a well and eating from a plowed field”, people’s diets are becoming more and more refined, and life and work are becoming more and more stressful, so that metabolic diseases and gastrointestinal diseases have increased significantly. In particular, gastrointestinal diseases are becoming younger and more complicated, and gastroenteritis, ulcers, and tumors are increasing significantly, which also bring great physical and mental damage to patients, as in this case. Some people can be treated with medication, but most patients are closely related to their daily habits and the nature of their work. For young people with old and young children, it is not realistic to give up work for the sake of treatment, as a doctor, try to guide patients to adjust variable factors such as diet structure, diet time, food quality, work and rest time, mood, exercise, etc. under unchangeable factors, and through conditioning can effectively improve Discomfort symptoms, to better energy to face life and work.
