Let’s first look at what deformities are present in the chin (jaw), most patients have a short chin, or what we call a small chin, but this is divided into two types of cases, one with a good dental occlusion and just a small chin, and the other is a small chin deformity accompanied by occlusal problems, which is actually a micrognathia, that is, a short mandible, which is a little more difficult to treat with a surgical procedure. We encountered mostly the first type, which is only small chin, for this deformity patients can take 2 methods, one is direct pad prosthesis, such as silicone, Medpor or expandable, this method is accepted by most of the patients, the other method is the chin osteotomy anteriorly, this requires general anesthesia, suitable for those patients who have severe chin shortness.
