Postoperative stricture recurrence is also a difficult problem. The main etiology is insufficient intraoperative excision of periurethral scar tissue and failure to achieve urethral mucosa-mucosa anastomosis, which will lead to posterior urethral scar tissue contracture. In addition, incomplete urethral freeing will result in greater anastomotic tension and postoperative anastomotic tearing, which is another cause of posterior urethral stricture. Therefore, complete excision of scar tissue and adequate urethral freeing to maintain a tension-free, intact, healthy mucosal anastomosis during the procedure is essential to ensure the success of the procedure.
