Is cancer an incurable disease?

Cancer is not an incurable disease. Many people are discouraged after learning that they have cancer, thinking that it is incurable and waiting for death at home, but this is actually not correct. The World Health Organization believes that more than one third of cancers can be controlled or even cured. In very early stage of cancer, cancer cells have not yet metastasized locally, and surgical treatment can easily remove cancer cells. Even if the cancer cells have metastasized locally, most of them can be cured without recurrence for a long time after surgery supplemented by radiation therapy or chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other comprehensive treatment measures. Even in advanced stage of cancer with systemic spread, there is nothing we can do or we can only wait for death. With the development of medical technology, more and more new technologies have emerged, and the use of immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other means can control the growth of cancer and allow patients to live with tumors for many years with good quality of life. Therefore, cancer is not invincible. As long as one maintains a positive attitude, gathers the courage to overcome cancer and cooperates with doctors for treatment, most cancers can be well controlled.
