How to treat tension headaches

  Tension headache, also known as muscle contraction headache, as the name implies is due to mental tension and is associated with contraction of the neck muscles. The clinical manifestations are headache on both sides or the whole head, generally mild to moderate headache, tight pressure or golden hoop feeling, the duration varies from several minutes to several days, the interval varies, it can be multiple times a day or once every few days, various examinations such as CT, MRI, EEG are normal. Most of the symptoms are accompanied by insomnia, anxiety, depression, and mental confusion.  Medication is usually anti-anxiety and antidepressant drugs such as amitriptyline, venlafaxine, citalopram, etc. Pain attacks can be treated with pain relievers such as aspirin and ibuprofen, but they should not be used frequently, otherwise drug-dependent headache will occur and make the headache more stubborn and difficult to cure. Thorough treatment also requires psychological counseling to resolve internal disturbances and improve the ability to handle stressful events.
