Vocal cord polyp surgery requires a hospital stay of several days

Vocal fold polyp surgery usually requires hospitalization for about 1 week, but some hospitals classify this disease as day surgery, and you can go home after the same day. Vocal fold polyp refers to a proliferative lesion of conscience that occurs on the vocal folds, usually the main symptom is hoarseness, and the degree of hoarseness is related to the location and size of the vocal fold polyp. In clinical practice, the diagnosis is usually confirmed by clinical manifestations and laryngoscopic examination. The treatment is mainly surgical excision, postoperative systemic antibiotics to prevent infection, local nebulization treatment is feasible, usually hospitalization for about 1 week can be discharged. In addition, since the surgery of vocal cord polyps is not complicated, some hospitals may, depending on the patient’s condition, perform the surgery in qualified outpatient operating rooms, and you may be able to go home the same day if the surgery goes well. It is important to note that whether it is inpatient or ambulatory treatment, you should follow the doctor’s instructions after surgery, pay attention to the rest of the vocal cords, avoid stimulating spicy food, avoid shouting, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, drinking strong tea and coffee, etc., and also perform some vocal training to eliminate bad pronunciation habits to prevent recurrence.
