Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, known as minimally invasive surgery, is performed in vivo through tiny incisions in the abdominal wall using minimally invasive instruments, a laparoscope, intra-abdominal lighting and an electronic camera system.
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a mature technique developed in the last decade. Instead of entering the abdominal cavity through a large incision, several small incisions of 5 – 10 mm are made in the abdominal wall and the gallbladder is removed through the small incisions by placing the appropriate instruments. This surgical approach is very traumatic, with little interference with the abdominal organs, little formation of serious intestinal adhesions, light postoperative pain and quick recovery, and is the preferred method of gallbladder removal.
