Hepatitis B carriers for 30 years with decreasing viral replication numbers is a good sign. Hepatitis B carriers need to be tested regularly for hepatitis B DNA viral replication numbers to monitor the presence of the hepatitis B virus in the body and to determine if there is an increase in replication numbers and if an antiviral drug treatment program needs to be initiated. Patients with a family history of liver malignancy, liver cirrhosis, and age greater than 30 years need to start an antiviral medication regimen in a timely manner. A decrease in the number of hepatitis B virus replications indicates that the disease contagiousness is decreasing and that the number of hepatitis B viruses in the body is low, which is a good sign. It is recommended that patients review their Hepatitis B DNA replication count every 6 months or so. Hepatitis B carriers need to have regular checkups at the Infectious Diseases Department of a regular hospital to have their Hepatitis B DNA replication count tested.
