Photodynamic therapy for condyloma acuminatum

Condyloma acuminatum (CA) is a sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection of the squamous epithelium of the skin and mucous membranes of humans. The persistent infection of HPV leads to the persistence of CA, so it is especially important to remove the human papilloma virus and prevent recurrence. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a new treatment technology that selectively destroys lesions through photodynamic reactions by combining photosensitizers and corresponding light sources. Nowadays, it has been widely used in the treatment of condyloma acuminata in China, and its recurrence rate is much lower than traditional treatment methods, especially for urethral condyloma acuminata, ALA-PDT is a new treatment that is simple, safe, effective, low recurrence rate, well-tolerated and has no obvious side effects. Our department has achieved good results with the application of this technology, providing a new and effective means of treatment for patients with acromegaly.
