What is anterior pelvic tilt

Anterior pelvic tilt is a pathological phenomenon in which the pelvis deviates from its normal angle. A normal pelvis should be in the center of the body and is an important support to maintain the balance of strength of the whole body. The typical clinical manifestation of anterior pelvic tilt is a retruding hip and an anteriorly convex lower abdomen, mostly seen in women. This change has the potential to cause neck and knee, and low back pain. There are various causes of anterior pelvic tilt, such as prolonged poor sitting posture, so that the abdominal and gluteal muscles become weak or the rectus femoris, iliopsoas, lumbar square, and adductor muscles shorten, etc.
