Carmegoline treats some functional pituitary tumors with hyperprolactinemia. Carmeglumine belongs to a class of long-acting dopamine agonists, and the indication for this drug is disorders associated with hyperprolactinemia. Pituitary tumors can be classified into functional and non-functional, in which functional pituitary tumors commonly have prolactinomas; therefore, cabergoline can treat prolactinomas with hyperprolactinemia, not only by reducing prolactin levels, but also by reducing the size of the tumor. However, this product should not be used for people with uncontrolled high blood pressure, hepatic insufficiency, or allergy to cabergoline. In addition, some patients may experience adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache and nausea after using the drug. To sum up, patients must use the drug to treat pituitary tumor under the guidance of the doctor, and must not use the drug on their own to avoid delaying the condition.
