How dangerous is a colonoscopy?

Enteroscopy is a commonly used test in gastroenterology, which is generally safe and without much harm.

1. During colonoscopy, it may stimulate the patient’s anal or colon mucosa, which may cause mucosal injury in rare cases, but these injuries are minor and can be easily healed.

2. If the patient chooses ordinary colonoscopy, abdominal pain and other discomforts may occur, and the discomforts will disappear after the end of colonoscopy.

3. Occasionally, complications may occur during colonoscopy, such as bleeding damage and perforation of the intestines, which can be resolved endoscopically, and the chances of complications are very small.

4. Cross-infectious infectious diseases may occur during colonoscopy, but the chances of this occurring are also very small due to the strict sterilization of the endoscope.

Any discomfort from colonoscopy requires prompt medical attention and symptomatic treatment.
