How is heart valve disease treated? What is the prognosis?

The main treatment options for heart valve disease are: surgical, interventional and pharmacological.
Surgical treatment includes prosthetic heart valve replacement or valvuloplasty.
Interventional treatments include percutaneous valve balloon dilatation, which targets valve stenosis and expands the orifice area and reduces valve stenosis through balloon expansion, and percutaneous valve placement, which delivers an artificial valve to the appropriate site through a catheter and releases it, replacing the diseased valve to work and correcting valve stenosis or regurgitation.
