Does patchouli work for diarrhea?

Taking Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San is useful in treating cold-damp diarrhea caused by feeling cold-dampness. Diarrhea in Chinese medicine belongs to the category of diarrhea, mostly due to the feeling of external evil, dietary injuries, emotional disorders, fatigue and injury to the spleen, the spleen and stomach damage caused by old age and long-term illness, dampness trapped in the spleen and soil, intestinal malfunction and occur.
Patchouli Zhengqi San is composed of Dahu Pi, Angelica dahurica, Perilla frutescens, Poria, Semixia Qu, Atractylodes Macrocephala, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Houpu Park, Bitter Platycodonopsis, Epimedium, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis. It is used for treating external wind-cold and internal dampness stagnation (stagnation of dampness in the body due to overly cold diet). Symptoms include malignant cold (fear of cold), headache, fullness in the chest and diaphragm (discomfort and distension in the chest), pain in the epigastrium (pain in the stomach and abdomen), nausea and vomiting, and diarrhea. Covering the body with a blanket to keep the body warm after taking the medicine can enhance the effect of relieving the symptoms. The contraindications and adverse effects of this medicine are not clear.
