The diagnosis of condyloma acuminatum is usually made based on the medical history and typical clinical presentation. Condyloma acuminatum is caused by infection with the human papilloma virus, which causes benign growths on the external genital and anal areas. The disease can develop very quickly, and if left untreated the warts quickly become larger, whereas pseudo warts do not develop. In addition, the acetic acid white test can be done for warts, which will turn white, but not for pseudo warts. For those who have difficulty distinguishing between warts, HPV testing or histopathological examination can be done to clarify whether they are warts or pseudo warts, so warts also need to be distinguished from penile pearl rash, sebaceous ectopia, or female villous labia minora.
