Avulsion fracture of the navicular talus with free bone fragments can be treated with external fixation in plaster or surgery, depending on the size and displacement of the bone fragments, combined with clinical symptoms. For smaller free bone fragments, if the displacement is not obvious, the bone fragments can be reset and externally immobilized with plaster, and the healing of the bone fragments can be observed at a later stage. Further treatment is required if unsatisfactory healing is present. For large bone fragments, undesirable position of bone fragments, or avulsion bone fragments on the articular surface, surgical treatment is needed, such as arthroscopic removal or fixation of free bone fragments; for non-articular surface avulsion fracture, Kirschner’s pin, hollow nails or rivets, etc. can be performed for restoration and fixation treatment. Avulsion fracture of the navicular talus with free bone fragments needs to be treated accordingly after the physician combines the specific condition.
